Play Time!

Now it’s the summer holidays and the days are longer, make sure you are spending time playing with your children. Play is one of the best things you can do for your child, whatever their age or ability and it’s FREE!

For the 31 days leading up to #PlayDay2019, they are tweeting 31 play ideas for you and your children to engage with including:

  • Go for a walk & collect shells to paint
  • Go camping in your living room or garden
  • Play hide & seek
  • Make paper planes & see which flies the furthest
  • Complete the Garden scavenger hunt

Playday 2019: This year Playday is the 7th August! Playday is the UK’s national day for play. Thousands of families get out to play at hundreds of community events across the UK. The Playday 2019 theme of #playbuildschildren aims to highlight the many ways in which play is beneficial to children and young people.

Playday Events: Playday events range from street parties, festivals in parks or village greens, mass adventures in woodlands, fields, even beaches, and public events at community venues. From small-scale events to thousands of children taking part in events organised in parks and open spaces – Playday is celebrated by each community in a way that suits them. Make sure you look out for what is happening in your area on August 7th.
