NHS Health Scotland proudly launch their new resources to help Local Authorities, regional NHS Boards and other community planning partners develop their joint local child poverty action plans.
Poverty is one of the main causes of poor health and health inequalities. It’s unfairly damaging the health of those living under its grip and restricting many of our children from fulfilling their potential for the best start in life. It’s not right that children living in the poorest circumstances should expect to live 14 years less than children from wealthier backgrounds.
However child poverty isn’t inevitable. With collaborative working, these resources can be used to work towards righting the wrongs of poverty for all of our children across Scotland.
