The Disclosure (Scotland) Bill has been introduced to the Scottish Parliament.

The Bill sets out proposals to modernise and improve the state disclosure system in Scotland.
Many headteachers did not seem to have a good understanding of the system, or confidence in their decisions. As a consequence, parents often wrongly face PVG checks when volunteering in school activities. Parents should not be prohibited from being involved in the life of their school, and simplification of the scheme would help address this potential barrier.

We hope that this new Bill makes it clearer for Parents to understand when PVG checks are necessary and therefore face fewer barriers when engaging in their child’s school life.
