Pupil Equity Funding is allocated directly to schools, targeted at those children most affected by the poverty related attainment gap.

From April this year £120m will be provided through the Attainment Scotland Fund directly to Headteachers to use for additional staffing or resources they consider will help reduce the poverty related attainment gap.

The funding will reach schools in every local authority area in Scotland and will be distributed on the basis of the numbers of pupils in P1-S3 known to be eligible and registered for free school meals.

Pupil Equity Funding is provided on top of the existing £50m Attainment Scotland funding and will continue to provide targeted support for those authorities and schools supporting children and young people in greatest need.  It means in 2017/18 we will provide £170m towards our commitment to allocate £750m through the Attainment Scotland Fund during the course of this Parliament.

We have helped Scottish Government to create this leaflet to help parents get involved with the new fund. Read it here:00517052
