The National Parent Forum of Scotland is delighted to comment on today’s exam results.

Chair, Joanna Murphy said: “This is a fantastic achievement for all our learners, and we congratulate them on their hard work over this past year. These excellent results are the outcome of a great deal of hard work, which demonstrates what can be achieved when parents, pupils and schools work together in partnership.

“The NPFS is sure that this success will be consolidated as National Levels 4,5,6 and 7 become more deeply embedded. The Forum will continue to support parents to have their voices heard and listened to throughout the whole “closing the gap” discussion. We believe that this is the best way to help our young people achieve their full potential.

“It is also important to remember that today is not just about exam results. We need to recognise and celebrate the breadth of young people’s achievements. Our young people need to feel supported on their journey to the next stage, whether they are staying on at school or moving on to work, further or higher education or a training place.

“As a parent nervously awaiting my daughter’s exam results, I can understand how many parents are feeling just now. But remember no matter what today’s results bring there are always options…
