The National Parent Forum of Scotland welcomes today’s exam results. Vice Chair Joanna Murphy said: “The National Parent Forum of Scotland wishes to congratulate everyone on achieving these excellent results, which are the outcome of all the hard work put in by pupils, parents and teachers over the past year.
“Today’s results demonstrate what can be achieved when parents, pupils and schools work together in partnership to ensure the full potential of Curriculum for Excellence. The Forum will continue to support parents to have their voices heard and be taken into full account as the new National and Higher qualifications are consolidated.
“As a parent nervously awaiting my own child’s exam results, I understand what many parents are feeling at this moment. Although exam results are important, NPFS recognises and values the breadth of young people’s achievements. Whatever the outcome, it is important that all young people are encouraged and supported on their journey, whether that means staying on at school, moving on to work and training, or going to college or university.
“No matter what today’s results bring, the important thing is to support your child to move on to the next stage and to remember that there are always options. If you or your child have questions about the results, there are plenty of sources of information and advice available for both parents and learners. We have listed some of the links below. If you need to talk to someone about the certificates or want to discuss your options, then SQA and SDS can help. The dedicated Exam Results Helpline is available on 0808 100 8000. Your school is your main source of help with questions about next steps, so contact them for advice.”
